Not as good as original, but...

(A review of Funny Games (2008))A nearly shot for shot, line for line remake of Michael Haneke's own 1997 original. While this movie is not like Van Sant's Psycho remake;lifeless and dull, it's not the thrill the original was either. I admit that this is in part because I have seen the original so the shocks and twists are just not there this time. However, all involved do great jobs in their respective role, the acting and direction is superb. Over all, if you've seen the original you've more or less seen this. Nothing new is added, and the only reason to watch is for the excellent acting of the cast, and it is worth a watch for this reason alone. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Disturbing and thought provoking

(A review of Funny Games)Michael Haneke's original and disturbing horror film about two young men who terrorize a family on vacation is a must see. One of a few really disturbing horror films that pulls no punches. The film also makes you think about you role as watcher of the events by involving you more directly with the film at various points. A great movie that disturbs and makes you think, a very smart horror film. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Best Zombie Movie
Posted : 1 year, 8 months ago on 23 March 2008 11:08
(A review of Cemetery Man)One of the best zombie movies ever. But it's much more then that. It's gory, humorous, philosophical (but not in a pretentious or in-your-face way). This and it's stylish cinematography make it an outstanding and refreshingly original horror film. And the ending.... it will leave you thinking about it long after it's over. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Blind Beast vs. Killer Dwarf review

(A review of Blind Beast vs. Killer Dwarf)A disappointng entry in a fine career. Badly shot and directionless. While Ishii may not be the greatest director ever this is unworthy for him, he was surely asleep at the wheel during this one. It's too bad that this is his epitaph. 0 comments, Reply to this entry

Irreversible review

(A review of Irreversible)Few movies make me cringe or feel incomfortable, but this one does. Uncompromising brutality and disturbing realism make this a very unsettling film. 0 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of Re-Animator (Millennium Edition))Stuart Gordan and Jeffrey Combs at their best. Wonderfully humorous, but not silly. Gore galore! A must see. 0 comments, Reply to this entry

(A review of V for Vendetta (Widescreen Edition))A great movie. Updates Moore's comic without lossing the feel of it. Very relevent to the times, but not preachy. The best graphic novel adaptation yet. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
Straw Dogs - Criterion Collection review

(A review of Straw Dogs - Criterion Collection)A very powerful film. A study in what it takes to push a man over the edge. Not a Peckinpah fan, but this is a great movie. Hoffman and George give excellent performances. 0 comments, Reply to this entry
